Disclosures

Last updated

You should know when someone could earn money from what they recommend. This page explains our current position and the rules we will follow if that changes.

In short

  • Today there are no affiliate links, ads, sponsors, or paid placements on this site.
  • If we add affiliate links, we will say so right next to the recommendation, not only here.
  • We have not tested any products. We will not suggest otherwise.

Where things stand today

Better By Why does not currently earn money from the site. No company has paid us, sent us free products, or reviewed our articles before publication.

If we add affiliate links

We may later recommend products and use affiliate links. An affiliate link means that if you buy something after following it, the seller may pay us a commission. If we do this:

  • The disclosure will sit next to the recommendation, in plain words, before the link. A note in a footer or on this page alone is not enough.
  • Paid links will be marked in the page code as sponsored, so search engines can tell them apart from ordinary citations.
  • Money will not decide what we say. A product will be recommended only if it fits the guide and holds up against our criteria: the evidence for what it contains, clear labelling, safety and interaction warnings, price, and refund terms. A commission will not change a guide’s conclusions.
  • We will reject offers whose sales pages rely on health claims the evidence does not support.
  • We will update this page before the first affiliate link appears, and name the kinds of programs we work with.

We intend to follow the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements and affiliate disclosures.

Testing and reviews

We have not tested, measured, or used any products for this site. Mentions of a product or ingredient explain what published research says; they are not endorsements or hands-on reviews. We will only call a page a review, or give a rating, if we have actually examined the product, and that page will describe what we did.

If a company ever sends us a product for free, we will say so on any page that mentions it.

Health information

Our content is educational and is not medical advice. Supplements can interact with medications and health conditions. Talk to a qualified healthcare professional before starting one. See About for how we write and review guides.
